Himba Red: A nod to the rich red ochre clay worn by the women of the Himba Tribe. In Namibia, Africa discarded PVC pipe destined for the landfill is collected by local artisans, then hand-cut, carved and re-formed into bracelets. The practice of turning something with no perceived value into something with value is called UPCYCLING, and these artisans do it beautifully! Inspiration for the patterns and designs come from the animals, landscape, rich history of Namibia; and reflect the traditional art of the region alongside the artists’ own unique vision.
